J. Lily was formed in 2015 by Meghan Trotter as a labor of love for both the artful beauty of calligraphy and the authentic touch of a beautiful hand-written memory. The excitement of being greeted at the mailbox by the promise held in a curiously captivating envelope with the swish and swoop of a never-to-be-repeated hand-scribed address can never be replaced. The beauty of your wedding begins with the promise of your hand-calligraphed wedding invitation. The magic carries to your wedding ceremony papers, the romantic signage at your reception, and the suite of papers upon which you will write your thank-you notes.

Meghan was a professional wedding event manager with Patrick Properties for four years after earning her degree from the University of South Carolina in hotel, restaurant and tourism management. But art had always been her passion and she was blessed with magnificent, flexible handwriting discovered at an early age. In 2015, Meghan decided to take the leap into pursuing her dream of owning a business founded to protect and provide hand-calligraphy art.

The work of J. Lily Design suits weddings well, helping event planners and brides to create a complete theme for their day, with a consistent thread of beautiful calligraphy art running through every paper and sign. Our art is also in demand for digital projects for your personalized stationery and monograms as well as events and celebrations of all kinds.

In the time since J. Lily was founded, the business has grown to include calligraphy on all manner of reception card items in every type of theme: From calligraphed fall leaves, to the pale petals of the perfect flower, to the ivory perfection of the inside of an oyster shell. We have also added a stock sign program, from which you can select from a number of standard size wedding display signs crafted from several different types of wood and stain.

J. Lily serves Charleston, South Carolina locally and accepts national orders if time allows. Please do call if you have a project you wish to discuss, we are happy to make product and timeline suggestions for your wedding invitations or signs.
